The DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) has just launched the newest iteration of the iconic Alpha line of vehicles which is the DeLorean Alpha 5 electric vehicle (EV).
The new EV from DMC features the iconic “Gullwing” design for its doors. It is a four-seater with an all-electric powertrain that is capable of 0-60mph in 2.99 seconds with a top speed of 188mph
In addition, the manufacturer is also targeting a drag coefficient of 0.24Cd and a range of 300 miles with its 110kWh battery.
On the design side, Italdesign, which is founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro, is the one behind this modernized version of the iconic vehicle that is well connected to the original John DeLorean model.
For a bit of history, Stephen Wayne and his Texas-based DeLorean Motor Company which was founded in 1995, acquired the DMC rights, tooling, and engineering drawings alongside the company records two years later.
The company has made a lot of revisions and multiple attempts to bring back the iconic vehicle consisting of different replicas and a 2011 EV conversion.
Having said all that, the newest version of the DeLorean classic which is the Alpha 5 will be showcased soon at Pebble Beach in August 2022 where more information will surely be shared by the manufacturer.
