After NVIDIA’s failed attempt to takeover ARM, current owner SoftBank is still looking for a potential buyer. Qualcomm, according to a report, seems to be spearheading a move to acquire it.
The planned takeover will not be carried out by Qualcomm alone but the manufacturer will be joined by other rival companies to prevent the acquisition from failing.
In addition, It is still not clear as to which companies will be involved in the possible transaction. However, according to Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, a lot of participants are required to make sure that ARM is still considered an independent company after the acquisition.
ARM, being a highly sought-after company because it is essential to chipmakers, has many other manufacturers interested in it.
Furthermore, with this current development, NVIDIA can still be a co-owner of the company and it is also reported that Intel is in talks about participating in this transaction.
Lastly, SoftBank, at the moment is preparing for the IPO of ARM Limited in order to sell at least some of the shares to its investors.
