Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi 12S series in China on July 4 and is comprised of the 12S, 12S Pro, and 12S Ultra. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is revealed to be equipped with the 1-inch Sony IMX989 camera sensor.
The Sony IMX989 is said to be 1.5x the actual size of the diagonal measurement of the sensor. However, it is still not clear if Xiaomi will be using the entire sensor surface area.
As for the vanilla 12S variant, it is rumored to feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED 120Hz refresh rate display with two configuration options – 8/12GB RAM + 128/256GB storage.
For the camera setup, it will sport a 50MP main shooter, 13MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro lens which are technically the same specs as the non-S Xiaomi 12 phone.
One of the biggest differences though is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC for the new S series and the cameras getting the Leica treatment.
You can now check out the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, vanilla, and Pro phones on the popular Chinese retailer JD.com.
