Creoqode launched the Creoqode Lyra+ handheld gaming device on Kickstarter with a price starting EUR 355.
As a refresher, the Lyra+ was said to have a Raspberry Pi Compute Mode 4 under the Hood paired with 4GB of RAM + 32GB flash storage. It was also said to sport a 7-inch QLED touchscreen powered by a 6000mAh battery.
However, after being backed by 142 customers that contributed almost EUR 63,000 (exceeding the EUR 11,854 target) as part of the campaign to fund the handheld, the manufacturer has decided to scrap the development of this gaming device.
According to the manufacturer, the production costs of the Creoqode Lyra+ went up since the start of the Kickstarter, high enough, that it made it impossible to construct and deliver the Lyra+. The backers will not have to pay for the handheld after the cancellation. It’s still not clear if the company plans to launch a new Kickstarter with a higher price range.
