Nvidia’s latest GTC 2022 Keynote titled “GeForce Beyond” showcased the latest features and technologies from the brand, including the latest RTX 40 series graphics cards with the debut of the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 graphics cards. The new cards will replace the outgoing RTX 30 series with updated features such as Shader Execution Reordering and DLSS 3.0.
Nvidia ADA LoveLace 4nm GPU
The new RTX 40 series graphics card uses the all-new Nvidia ADA Lovelace architecture which sports 76 Billion transistors built on TSMC’s 4N Process. Nvidia ADA Lovelace brings new features to the table namely Shader Execution Reordering, RTX Neural Rendering, 3rd-Gen RT Cores, and 4th Gen Tensor Cores.
RTX 4090 – 2-4X Faster than 3090 Ti
Nvidia CEO, Jensen Huang showcased the RTX 4090 with claims stating it’s two to four times faster than the current GPU flagship, the RTX 3090 Ti. The RTX 4090 sports 16384 CUDA cores, a base clock of 2230 MHz, and a boost clock of 2520 MHz. The RTX 4090 has a 450W TGP and Nvidia recommends an 850W minimum power supply for the graphics card.
RTX 4080 – 2-4X Faster than 3080 Ti
The RTX 4080 will have two variants on launch mimicking the current RTX 3080‘s 10GB and 12GB configurations. The RTX 4080 16GB GDDR6X has 9728 CUDA Cores, 2210 MHz Base, and 2510 MHz Boost while the 12GB GDDR6X variant has fewer cores at 7680 CUDA cores but has higher clock speeds of 2310 MHz base and 2610 MHz boost. Power consumption-wise, the RTX 4080 16GB is rated at 320W with a recommended PSU of 750W while the RTX 4080 12GB has a TGP of 285W and a minimum PSU requirement of 700 watts.
RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 PH Pricing and Availability
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 is priced at $1599(Php 92,205.54), $100 more than the launch price of the RTX 3090. The Nvidia PH landing page shows a local starting price of 112,300 pesos. The RTX 4090 will be available worldwide starting October 12, 2022 and we also expect for reviews to be out a day before it goes to store shelves.
The RTX 4080 12GB GDDR6X model starts at $899 or a local price of Php 63,200 while the beefed-up RTX 4080 16GB model will retail for $1199 or Php 84,200. Both models of the RTX 4080 will launch sometime around November.
