Apple has been planning to diversify its production back in 2020 by moving some of the production of its iPhone from China to India. Now, it seems that the output of AirPods and Beats will follow suit.
Apple production diversifies
The company has already requested some of its suppliers to move production to India with the aim of doubling its exports by the end of March 2023.
In a report from Bloomberg earlier this week, iPhones that were manufactured in India and shipped to Europe and the Middle East had a total cost of USD 1 Billion but with the new move that Apple is planning, this cost may reach up to USD 2.5 Billion by March 2023.
According to analysts, aside from relieving some of the production that is concentrated in China, this move will also give India a chance to show its manufacturing prowess which may also attract more companies to move their production to the country.
