MediaTek has just introduced the new MediaTek Dimensity 1080 built on the TSMC 6nm process. The new chipset is the successor of the Dimensity 920 chipset.
MediaTek Dimensity 1080 Features and Specifications
The Dimensity 1080 features two ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores and six ARM-Cortex A55 cores. These can be clocked at up to 2.6GHz and 2GHz, respectively. Meanwhile, handling the graphics is a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU.
The new SoC can have up to 120Hz FHD+ displays, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. Additionally, it supports up to 200MP cameras, 4K HDR video encoding, and a quad-camera setup.
As far as connectivity goes, the MediaTek Dimensty 1080 supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual 5G with dual standby.
MediaTek revealed that the first phones powered by the new chipset will arrive in Q4 2022. Among these looks to be the Redmi Note 12 series which is expected to launch in November. HONOR is also expected to introduce a Dimensity 1080-powered device in the coming weeks.
