Qualcomm has just introduced its Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 chipset which powers the latest VR headset – the Quest Pro headset from Meta.
Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 Details
The latest Snapdragon XR chipset comes with a new image processing pipeline that offers less than 10ms latency. This also unlocks full-color video passthrough for mixed reality applications.
The new chipset also supports up to 8K 60fps 360-degree video and 30% improved thermal performance and 50% higher sustained power compared to its predecessor.
Additionally, it has 3D reconstruction, automatic room mapping, and ‘concurrent perception’ technologies that include head, hand, and controller tracking.
Qualcomm revealed that multiple devices powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 will be launching by the end of the year.
