With a max speed of 8.5 Gbps, the new LPDDR5X DRAM now has the fastest DRAM after surpassing the previous maximum speed of 7.5 Gbps in March.
There are already smartphones that use the LPDDR5X technology but the new memory will offer even faster speeds out of the box.
According to the company, the combination of low power and high performance of LPDDR5X DRAM makes it suitable for other applications as well like servers and automobiles. LPDDR5X DRAM is expected to extend to emerging markets driven by AI and the metaverse.
“The joint validation of 8.5Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM has enabled us to accelerate market-wide availability of this high-speed memory interface by more than a year, which is a tremendous accomplishment made possible through our long-standing collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies.”
