Xiaomi plans to shut down the Xiaomi Gallery Sync feature of the Xiaomi Cloud. The developer Kacper Skrzypek saw a draft of the announcement but there is still no confirmation from the company.

The announcement has no clear indication of when the shutdown will happen but it seems it will be happening before the year ends. However, the other Xiaomi cloud services will still be available after this(syncing and backing up contacts, messages, and notes).

Xiaomi Gallery Sync details

For the unfamiliar, Gallery Sync gave users 5GB of free cloud storage and also offered a paid version with bigger storage space.

With this announcement looming, it is better to transfer your files sooner, as the Chinese company may only keep the files until 2023 before permanently deleting them.

Xiaomi has prepared a way for you to transfer your files to Google Photos and you can also download a copy of your files and store it locally.

To move your files to Google you just open your gallery and click on the Move to Google Photos button> choose the google account you want to transfer them to>give Xiaomi access>wait for your file migration to start.
