ASUS ROG introduced the ROG Phone 6 series in early July including the ROG Phone 6 Pro. The 6 and 6 Pro were unveiled in the Philippines later on in the month. The 6 Pro shortly after was spotted on the top of the AnTuTu benchmark list in July 2022 with a score of 1,114,647.
As the most powerful phone, it was just a matter of time until we saw the ROG Phone 6 Pro go through the durability test of YouTuber JerryRigEverything (JRE).
ROG Phone 6 Pro Meets the JRE Durability Test
If this is the first time you’ve heard of the JRE durability test, Zack Nelson of JRE tests just how strong devices are structurally by putting them through grueling tests including a scratch test, burn test, and bend test.
Unsurprisingly, the ROG Phone 6 had grooves in the scratch test in levels 6 and 7 of the Mohs hardness scale. This is pretty typical of glass which is in line with the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protecting it.
The display, meanwhile, didn’t recover from the burn test after a couple of seconds of being exposed to an open flame. Like the glass, this is an expected result from an AMOLED display.
Last on the list of tests is the bend test. The ROG Phone 6 Pro’s predecessor ran through the same test but gave out to the pressure of the YouTuber folding the device.
The ROG Phone 6 Pro wasn’t any different as it gave out seemingly pretty quickly. Zack wasn’t too surprised of the result though as upon early inspection, there were hardly any changes to the structural build of the 6 Pro.
Like the 5 Pro, the bend took place between the two batteries along the middle motherboard and near the power button and side-mounted USB-C port.
While it is definitely worrying, keep in mind that Zack does put quite a lot of pressure to get the result. This is unlikely to happen in everyday life unless you somehow try to fold it with a lot of pressure. Nevertheless, knowing that such a powerful device is priced at PHP 64,995, locally.

That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
