Samsung seems to be gearing up to boost its chipset manufacturing by forming a new Chipset Development team within its mobile division.
Future of Samsung’s In-house Chipsets
The company has been outsourcing its Exynos SoC production to Samsung System LSI which is an entirely separate team from the MX (Mobile eXperience) division for years now.
According to The Elec, the South Korean company is forming a new chipset/API development team that is integrated within its mobile division and will be led by vice president Choi Won-Joon (who joined the company back in 2016 coming from Qualcomm).
Rumors suggest that the next generation of custom chipsets will be featured in the Galaxy S series of devices in 2025 as there has been no announcement, as of now, regarding an Exynos flagship chip for next year and 2024.
