Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has just announced that the company will begin rolling out a new product – the Meta Verified subscription service. While this may sound like the company’s response to the Twitter Blue verification check service, Meta’s version actually has more benefits.

Meta Verified Subscription Service

The new Meta Verified subscription service is a bundle available on both Facebook and Instagram that allows you to authenticate your account with a government ID. Additionally, you get:

  • the blue badge
  • more protection from impersonation with proactive account monitoring
  • direct access to customer support
  • increased visibility and reach
  • exclusive features to express yourself in unique ways

Zuckerberg clarifies that the “new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services.”

The company adds, “Long term, we want to build a subscription offering that’s valuable to everyone, including creators, businesses, and our community at large. As part of this vision, we are evolving the meaning of the verified badge so we can expand access to verification and more people can trust the accounts they interact with are authentic.”

Not anyone can apply though, it details that there will be a series of checks into Meta Verified before, during, and after applies. These are namely:

  • Accounts must meet minimum activity requirements like prior posting history and be at least 18 years old
  • Submit a government ID that matches the profile name and photo of the Facebook or Instagram account you’re applying for
  • Subscriptions will include proactive monitoring for account impersonation.

Meta Verified is priced at USD 11.99/month (around PHP 659) on web and USD 14.99/month (around PHP 824) on iOS and Android. It will initially be rolled out in Australia and New Zealand this week but the company has clarified that it will be introduced in other countries soon.
