Canalys’ latest smartphone-vendor ranking report for the Philippine market shows that the Chinese manufacturer realme, a former sub-brand of OPPO that is both under BBK Electronics, ended 2022 as the country’s No.1 smartphone manufacturer.
realme tops the smartphone vendor list
OPPO and its former subbrand held the top two spots in the smartphone market in Q4 2022, with OPPO just 7% behind its former subbrand in unit share. Both companies, though grew in Q4 2022 by up to 16% compared to the same period in 2021.
Meanwhile, for the entire year, 2022 showed realme on top of the charts holding 21% of the local unit share. This makes it the top smartphone company locally for 2 consecutive years which is a remarkable achievement given it only entered the market last Q4 2018.
Hopefully, it can keep it up this year as it looks to open the year with the launch of the 10 Pro series which is set to be launched locally on February 14.
