The Most Loved Flagship Device of 2022
In April 2022, vivo launched the vivo X Fold, the company’s first foldable device. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 processor, dual 120Hz E5 screens, and a full-focal ZEISS four-camera setup. Additionally, it has a 4,600mAh battery that supports 66W dual fast charging.
In the same month, the vivo X Note was also unveiled with a 7-inch large screen and has similar features to the X Fold.
But the talk of the town is the vivo X80 series that boasts the best quality, materials, and lens coating. The X80 series is the first and only smartphone on the market to feature a 50mm portrait lens with improved Gimbal technology and a Sony IMX866 lens.

Continuing the Legacy: No. 1 Smartphone in China, Stable Global Performance
In 2022, vivo held the biggest place in the Chinese smartphone market share in the third quarter and its share in the global market was also stable in the top five.
According to data released by IDC, vivo ranked third in the domestic smartphone market at 17.9% in the first quarter of 2022 with shipments of 13.3 million units.
In Q2, according to a report from IDC, vivo had a market share of 19.1% in domestic smartphones and shipped 12.9 million units. This garnered them to hold the second spot. Meanwhile, in the global market, the company ranked fifth with 9% of the market share as per Canalys.
In Q3 2022, vivo topped the China Smartphone Market with a 21% market share. It once again held fifth in shipments in the global market according to Canalys and held the same spot in Q4 2022 with 8% of the share.
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, vivo established a 25% total market share in Q4 of 2019 to hold the second spot in the local smartphone industry rankings. A report from Canalys on the smartphone landscape of the Philippines, vivo achieved a feat behind 159% year-on-year growth which may be attributed to a series of new technologies, products, and marketing initiatives.
Launch of vivo-developed Chips
In April 2022, vivo introduced its second-generation self-developed chip – the V1+. The V1+ chip offered good scheduling, fast speed, and high energy efficiency. Its data throughput speed, according to official data, shows that the chip can be efficiently maintained at about 8GB/s with improved efficiency of about 300% and power consumption reduced by approximately 72%.
vivo and MediaTek also have an in-depth partnership to adjust the V1+ chip with Dimensity 9000. This generated more than 30 patents.
In November 2022, the company introduced the V2 chip with a new AI-ISP architecture. It brings improvements in compatibility and functionality as well as upgrades on the on-chip memory, AI computing unit, and image processing unit.
OriginOS 3
