Xiaomi announced last month that it had conducted an LCA (life cycle assessment) carbon footprint analysis on its latest flagship smartphone. This was done in collaboration with an external carbon data analysis and certification organization which allowed the establishment of a comprehensive process and methodological model for assessing the carbon footprint of its smartphones.

The LCA approach involves measurements of the total greenhouse gas emissions from the extraction of raw materials through the product’s manufacture, distribution, use, and eventual disposal.
