Gmail blue checks are now available for verified emails. Google now has its own verified branded email system, but it’s uncertain if this will reduce spam in users’ inboxes.
Gmail Blue Checks
The search engine company released a blog showcasing its expanded Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) system for Gmail.
In order to get a blue check, you must present and verify your brand logo alongside strong authentication to make sure Google knows who you are.
BIMI has been used since 2020 to verify brand logos on email avatars, and now the blue check provides additional confirmation that a brand is legitimate. This helps to confirm a brand’s identity as they send promotional emails to your inbox.
Obtaining a blue check using BIMI is voluntary, it is necessary for each account to use Domain-based Message Authentication and to have their logo validated.
Hopefully, this verification system helps with potentially curbing the number of spam emails that are being sent.
