IBM CEO Arvind Krishna recently told Bloomberg that the company is looking to pause hiring for around 7,800 roles to replace roles with AI.
IBM Replacing with AI
Krishna revealed that the roles that will be replaced would be positions that can be entirely outsourced to AI. He estimated this would affect 30% of its workforce or about 7,800 jobs in the coming years.
Earlier this year, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, let go of 12,000 of its workforce to focus on AI development. In the same month, Microsoft laid off 10,000 employees and transitioned to its AI development.
While this appears to be worrying, there are also those that have moved against AI. Samsung recently updated its policy prohibiting its employees from using generative AI tools in company-owned devices. Additionally, the godfather of AI recently resigned from Google to openly talk about the dangers of AI.
Ram found his love and appreciation for writing in 2015 having started in the gaming and esports sphere for GG Network. He would then transition to focus more on the world of tech which has also began his journey into learning more about this world. That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
