Lazada has apparently blocked imported phones from being sold on their platform. Some of the brands include POCO, OnePlus Global, and Xiaomi Global.

Lazada and New Customs Policy

According to the latest Philippine Customs policy, smartphones and tablets are subject to import clearance and cannot be sold if their total package value, which is the selling price minus the seller discount, is PHP 10,000 or more.

The image below shows Lazada Logistics’ explanation regarding the missing phones mentioning the new Philippine Customs policy.

Lazada then started removing the said products and the intercepted packages will be returned to the respective merchants.

As seen in the image above, Gizguide reached out to the POCO store on Lazada to know more about the missing phones and the reply was somewhat similar to the explanation posted by Lazada Logistics.

“Dear customer, I am very sorry, due to customs reasons, customs clearance will be suspended, and the specific recovery time is undecided. It is recommended that you pay attention to our store, so you can see the updated information of the product in time, and buy after customs clearance resumes, thank you for your support!”

As of now, it is still unsure if this is only a temporary or a permanent rule set by the Philippine Customs. We can only wait for the local authorities to give us clarity regarding this matter.
