The Light Rail Transit Authority is implementing price hikes for both LRT-1 and 2 by August 2, 2023, with the MRT-3 operators set to follow suit in the next two weeks.
“We at the Department of Transportation (DOTr) believe that this fare adjustment will contribute to maintaining affordable mass transportation services for the two commuter-train lines,”
Jorjette Aquino, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways
LRT-1 and 2 Price Hike
The two rail networks’ minimum boarding fees would rise from PHP 11 to PHP 13.29 and from PHP 1 to PHP 1.21/km traveled.
The images show the renewed Fare Matrix for both transit lines. However, after saying yes to the hike implementation last June 6, President Marcos ordered to delay the price hike as it will have a big impact on commuters.
On the other hand, MRT-3 director Oscar Bongon announced a fare hike petition in two weeks, similar to both the Light Railway line’s approved increases.
