Qualcomm has just unveiled the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 the successor to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. The second-generation chipset is the first member of the 4-series to be built on the 4nm process and support 5G 3GPP Release 16.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 has two performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz. This setup is said to offer a 10% improvement over the Gen 1 chip.
It has an Adreno GPU but it hasn’t been detailed but the second-generation chip supports up to FHD+ displays at up to a 120Hz refresh rate.
The chipset also supports LPDDR5x RAM at up to 3200MHz and UFS 3.1 storage. It also has dual ISPs with up to 108MP sensors and up to 32MP Zero Shutter Lag. The chipset, however, features Multi-Camera Temporal Filtering (MCTF for short).

- video recording up to 1080p at 60fps with EIS
- Quick Charge 4+
- USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB-C connectivity
- Snapdragon X61 modem (3GPP Release 16, 4×4 MIMO, up to 2.5Gbps down, 900Mbps up)
- Wi-Fi 5 (ac)
- Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX for audio
Qualcomm revealed that the first Snapdragon 4 Gen 2-powered smartphones will arrive in the second half of the year and will come from Redmi and vivo.
