Sony is expected to introduce the Sony WF-1000XM5 flagship TWS earbuds. Despite the lack of official information, there are rumors that claim that the XM5 will be smaller, lighter, and have faster charging support. This corroborates previous rumors that it will be smaller.
Sony WF-1000XM5 Leaks
The leaks reveal that the new buds will weigh around 5.9g, drastically lighter than the current XM4 buds at 7.3g. Additionally, the XM5 is also said to be physically smaller.
The Sony WF-1000XM5 is expected to offer the same 24-hour total playback with the charging case as its predecessor. However, the newer generation earbuds are said to have 1 hour of playback after only 3 minutes in the charging case. If this is the case, it is 2 minutes faster than the XM4.
The XM5 is also said to have better voice pickup but it wasn’t defined if it will be through better microphones or improved processing.
As we previously mentioned, Sony has yet to reveal anything including a launch date but the XM4 debuted in June 2021, so the XM5 launch is expected sooner rather than later.
