The Next-Generation LRT-1 trains have been unveiled by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC).

Manufactured by Mitsubishi Corporation, These new train sets consisting of four next-generation LRVs can carry 1,388 passengers. It comes with 30 sets and 120 LRVs in total. They feature a human-machine interface for easy troubleshooting. It aims to increase daily ridership from 280,000 to 300,000 passengers.
The addition of these new trains is part of the Light Rail Transit-1 Cavite Extension project that is said to decrease travel time from Manila to Cavite from 1 hr and 10 mins to 25 mins.
