GCash has just updated its Help Center revealing that cash-ins via linked BPI and UnionBank accounts will be charged a convenience fee starting October 2, 2023.
GCash – BPI and UnionBank Convenience Fees
Yes, the days of free cash-ins with BPI Online and UnionBank accounts will be over soon. The convenience fee for each transaction for both banks will be PHP 5. The explanation for the fee, as per the Help Center, is ‘due to increasing costs‘.
PHP 5 is definitely more than PHP 0 but, all things considered, it’s drastically smaller than most transaction fees which vary from PHP 15 to PHP 25.
GCash suggests cashing in using your bank’s website or via InstaPay. Additionally, PayPal is also given as an option for cash ins which is free of charge.
