iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus Now Official with Dynamic Island and USB-C Port

Apple has officially announced the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus at the September Event. The duo comes with a new and industry-first color-infused back glass and a textured matte finish. Additionally, they both feature the Dynamic Island that was introduced in the Pro series last year and a USB-C port.

These were announced alongside the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

The iPhone 15 arrives with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, while the 15 Plus arrives with a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display. These displays now offer up to 1600 nits of brightness and up to 2000 nits of peak outdoor brightness.

The two latest iPhones feature the Dynamic Island which offers an easier way to interact and see Live Activities like alarms and calls, as well as track your flights and games.

Both devices are equipped with a 48MP main camera and an ultra-wide lens around the back as well as a TrueDepth front camera. The 48MP main camera has a quad-pixel sensor and 100% Focus Pixels for fast autofocus. It also uses computational photography to offer a 24MP super-high-resolution default which also allows a 2x telephoto photography.

The duo also offers better portrait photos by letting you adjust the focus point after the photo has been taken.

Meanwhile, under the hood, the two iPhones are powered by an A16 Bionic Chip that powered the iPhone 14 Pro series devices. Among the features of the A16 Bionic chip include:

  • 6-core CPU – two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores
  • 5-core GPU – 50% more memory bandwidth than its predecessor
  • 16-core Neural Engine – capable of nearly 17 trillion operations per second

The two devices also feature the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip that allows them to connect at three times the range than before. The new chip opens a new way to use Precision Finding for Find My Friends which can be used even in crowds.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus still charge via MagSafe but are also the first iPhones to feature the USB-C port. To support this change, EarPods with USB-C connector was also introduced.

Apple also ditched leather for its accessories and instead made new FineWoven accessories made from luxurious and durable microtwill.
