Apple has just introduced its latest iPhone devices and this includes the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus and the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. These are the first iPhones to adapt the USB-C port for charging. These were launched alongside the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 at the Apple September event.

The latest Pro devices from Apple are designed with aerospace-grade titanium and feature a customizable Action button.

The iPhone 15 Pro has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR panel. Both panels are protected by Ceramic Shield.

This year’s Pro devices boast contoured edges on the device and thinner borders on the display. They are also said to be the lightest Pro devices thanks to the premium alloy build.

The duo also introduces a customizable Action button on the left which can be used to quickly access things like the camera, flashlight, Focus modes, or Shortcuts as well as record Voice Memos on the go.

The two feature a 48MP main rear camera with a new 24MP super-high-resolution default. The main camera also allows you to switch between three focal lengths – 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm. It also supports 48MP HEIF images with 4x more resolution in addition to 48MP ProRAW.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max features a 3x Telephoto camera that provides the longest optical zoom on an iPhone – 5x at 120mm. The company has done so with a tetraprism design that bounces light five times for a compact design. Additionally, it has a combined optical image stabilization and autofocus 3D sensor-shift module.

The duo also have the better Portrait features in the iPhone 15 and iPhone Plus. Other features that the Pro devices include:

  • Night mode is now powered by the Photonic Enigne enabled by the LiDAR scanner
  • New Smart HDR captures the subject and the background with true-to-life renderings of skin tones
  • 4K60 ProRes videos
  • Spatial Video recording for Apple Vision Pro (arriving later this year)

Under the hood, both Pro devices are powered by an A17 Pro chip, the industry’s first 3nm chipset. Among its highlights include:

  • 6-core CPU (2 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores) – up to 10% faster with microarchitectural and design improvements
  • 16-core Neural Engine – up to 2x faster with up to 25 trillion operations per second
  • 6-core GPU – 20% faster
  • Hardware-accelerated ray tracing
  • AV1 decoder, ProRes codec, Pro Display Engine
  • USB controller that supports USB 3 speeds

The two devices now charge via USB-C which also allows you to utilize USB 3 for data transfer speed of up to 10 gigabits per second and up to 20x faster than before.

They also feature the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip enabling them to connect at three times the range than their predecessors. This opens up a new way to use Precision Finding for Find My Friends. Moreover, the duo now supports Wi-Fi 6E for faster wireless performance.

The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max come in four color options – Black Titanium, White Titanium, Blue Titanium, and Natural Titanium.
