Google has just updated the branding for Android, including a new logo and a fresh 3D bugdroid. This comes after the update in the brand in 2019 where it started using a more straightforward naming scheme for the OS – Android 10.
New Android Branding
The update in the company’s OS branding is said to have drawn “inspiration from Material design to complement the Google brand palette, as well as be adaptable”.
The new branding also moves away from the longstanding lowercase stylization of the word “android”. As Google explains it, the capitalized A adds “more weight to its appearance when placed next to Google’s logo.” Additionally, the company hopes it better communicates the relationship between devices and the Google apps and services.
The company not only updated the logo but also made the iconic bugdroid 3D, “to ensure it can easily transition between digital and real-life environments”.
