Meta, in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, has just announced the next-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses collection. The latest smart glasses have been redesigned from the ground up with new capabilities and improvements.
This comes along with the announcement of the Meta Quest 3 mixed reality headset.
Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses
The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses come in the classic Wayfarer style and a brand-new Headliner look. It is also lighter than its predecessor and slimmed down in every direction.
They also have newly designed speakers with extended bass, higher maximum volume, and improved directional audio. These provide reduced leakage for improved calls, music, and podcasts.
The glasses are equipped with an ultrawide 12MP camera that supports 1080p videos up to 60 seconds. You can directly share photos with friends and family, thanks to Meta AI, just by saying “send a photo” voice command.
To aid in video recording, it has a newly designed five-microphone array that supports immersive audio recording.
Under the hood, it is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset which helps enable higher quality photo and video processing and even faster computing.
With the charging case, the smart glasses offer up to a total of 36 hours of use. Meanwhile, the glasses are now IPX4 water-resistant.
You can now also livestream from the glasses to Facebook or Instagram. You can see the comments in your preview or by tapping and holding the side of the glasses to hear them out loud.
It also has Meta AI integrated for an optimized hands-free, on-the-go experience. You can engage with Meta AI by saying “Hey Meta” to spark creativity, get information, and control features.
Pricing and Availability
The new Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are available in four frame color options starting with a classic Shiny Black and three transparent colorways – Rebel Black, Jeans, and Caramel.
Pre-orders for the smart glasses have begun and it starts at USD 299 (around PHP 17,000) and will officially be available starting October 17. If you’re interested, you can pre-order here or via the Ray-Ban website.
