Taking mobile livestreaming to a whole new level, Smart and US-based Radisys Corporation, a subsidiary of Jio Platforms Limited, successfully tested the Smart LiveStream App with new features at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
As FIBA’s official global partner, Smart worked with Radisys to invite select Filipino personalities to try out the future of mobile streaming while they watched the much-anticipated FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 match between the Philippines and Italy on August 29.
Upgraded Smart LiveStream App
The upgraded Smart LiveStream App now includes a 360 Camera that allows users to adjust their view by swiping across their screen. It captures all the basketball action and excitement.
There’s also a Live Chat feature to make streaming more fun and engaging. Users can participate in Live Polls to share their thoughts on the game. ‘Match Up’ and ‘Box Score’ tabs show team and player stats in real-time. A ‘Watch Party’ tab lets users share the livestream with up to seven other people, and they can talk, share images, and use emojis while watching the game.
This beta test is the first step in PLDT and Smart’s collaboration with Radisys to improve digital experiences in the Philippines, starting from their announcement in August 2023.
“The success of the Smart LiveStream App’s new features is a big step in our ongoing collaboration with Radisys and our commitment to providing the best mobile experience for Filipinos. It offers a glimpse of a more enjoyable, interactive, and immersive streaming experience that we’ll soon offer to our subscribers through our top-notch mobile network,”
– Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT and Smart President and CEO
“Radisys is excited about our collaboration with PLDT-Smart. With the successful beta test and positive feedback from participants, we look forward to sharing our expertise and experience as we introduce innovations that matter to our customers,”
– Arun Bhikshesvaran, President and CEO, Radisys
The successful beta test of the new Smart LiveStream App is part of Smart’s efforts to provide the best basketball experiences to Filipinos during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 from August 25 to September 10.
