After successfully broadcasting the FIBA World Cup 2023, the Philippines’ top pay TV provider, Cignal TV, once again impressed with its high-quality coverage of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Throughout the 16-day Asiad, Filipino sports fans could follow the action on Cignal platforms, including the One Sports channel, One Sports+ pay TV channel, and Pilipinas Live OTT service.

“We were extremely pleased to bring the Asian Games to Filipinos. This was the Philippines’ best ranking in almost thirty years. Most importantly, Gilas Pilipinas won the coveted gold medal in basketball. The Asiad produced many happy surprises for our sports fans, and we delivered to them live and on-demand.”

– Jane J. Basas, the President and CEO of Mediaquest Holdings and Cignal TV

Pilipinas Live, Cignal’s sports app, ranked number one in the Philippines during the Asian Games and the FIBA World Cup. The OTT service streams sports coverage in the Philippines and worldwide, without ads and in high definition. You can download Pilipinas Live on the App Store and Google Play.

This year’s Asiad featured over 12,000 athletes from 45 countries, taking place from September 23 to October 8. The Philippines finished 17th, earning 4 golds, 2 silvers, and 12 bronzes, an improvement from their 19th place finish in 2018.

EJ Obiena, the second-ranked pole vaulter globally, won the Philippines’ first gold medal and set an Asiad record of 5.90 meters. Meggie Ochoa, a two-time world champion and bronze medalist in 2018, battled illness to win gold in ju-jitsu, and Annie Ramirez secured another gold in women’s 57 kg ju-jitsu.

The most significant and surprising gold medal was won by Gilas Pilipinas, ending a 61-year drought in the Asiad Men’s Basketball title.
