Ryzen 8000G desktop processors and Ryzen 8040 mobile processors takes center stage

AMD made waves at CES 2024 this past week, announcing several new desktop and mobile processors that promise exceptional performance for gamers, content creators, and mainstream users alike. With their Ryzen 8000G desktop processors and Ryzen 8040 mobile processors taking center stage, AMD asserted their leadership in CPU and graphics technology.

Ryzen 8000G Desktop Processors – The Best Integrated Graphics Yet

The star of AMD’s CES lineup was the Ryzen 8000G family of desktop processors. Available in Ryzen 7, Ryzen 5, and Ryzen 3 models, these chips integrate AMD’s latest Zen 4 CPU architecture with Radeon 700M integrated graphics.

According to AMD’s performance projections, the range-topping Ryzen 7 8700G with Radeon 780M graphics offers the fastest integrated graphics ever seen in a desktop processor. This makes the 8000G series ideal for compact, affordable systems that can still handle 1080p gaming and content creation workloads.

The entire 8000G lineup also includes dedicated silicon for AI acceleration via AMD’s Ryzen AI technology. The AI engines in these chips can speed up workloads like background noise cancellation on video calls. Ryzen AI represents AMD’s first foray into AI processing on the desktop.

More Ryzen 5000 Series Options for Socket AM4

While the Ryzen 8000G family may steal the spotlight, AMD is giving Socket AM4 a new lease on life with four additional Ryzen 5000 processors. Most notably, the 8-core Ryzen 7 5700X3D leverages AMD’s 3D V-Cache stacking technology to deliver an incredible 100MB of L3 cache. This massive cache boost promises to greatly accelerate gaming frame rates.

Rounding out the other additions are the Ryzen 7 5700 (8 core), Ryzen 5 5600GT (6 core), and Ryzen 5 5500GT (6 core). Despite being a “last hurrah” for AM4, the new Ryzen 5000 models still pack a punch. Their Zen 3 architecture has aged like fine wine.

Ryzen 8040 Mobile Processors and AI Laptops

Although not announced at CES, AMD also brought partner laptops powered by Ryzen 8040 Series mobile processors. First unveiled last month, 8040-based portables feature both top-shelf processing performance and dedicated Ryzen AI silicon to accelerate AI tasks.

Major OEMs like Acer, ASUS, Lenovo, HP, and Razer are already shipping Ryzen 8040 laptops or have models on the way soon. From gaming powerhouses to thin-and-light convertibles, they span a wide range of form factors and capabilities – all enhanced by Ryzen AI.

More AI and Graphics Leadership from AMD

With muscular new CPUs for both desktop and laptop segments – not to mention integrated AI acceleration in many models – AMD is staking its claim as the AI and graphics leader for personal computing. Combined with AMD’s data center offerings, they present a compelling vision of ubiquitous heterogeneous computing.

For consumers, it means more choice and better experiences, whether gaming, creating, or getting work done.

The AMD Ryzen 8000 Series for Desktop and Mobile are expected to arrive in the Philippines early this year. Stay tuned for more AMD news only here at Gadget Pilipinas.
