A new Samsung patent was recently spotted on the United States Patent Trademark Office (USPTO). This reveals a new hinge mechanism that could make it to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Patent
The new hinge design not only offers a thinner device altogether, but it should also aid in reducing stress.
Moreover, it seems like the device will have a wider and a shorter form-factor making it more akin to the OnePlus Open or OPPO Find N3.
Another previous patent on a foldable device also hinted at a plan to include a built-in slot for the S-Pen. Currently, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and its predecessors require users to buy a separate case to hold the S Pen.
Keep in mind though that these are patents. These could be concepts of what can be done or purely theoretical. Additionally, it’s hard to say how far into the research and development and actual testing the South Korean tech company is as far as the slimmer hinge and S-Pen slot go.
It could be possible that we see a totally new design on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 or we could see the company iterate the current build.
