Apple has just silently unveiled the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air powered by the M3 chip. This offers up to 60% improvement over the M1 model and up to 13x faster than the fastest Intel-based models.
M3-powered 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air
The M3 chip is built on a 3nm process and brings even more capabilities to the new MacBook Air. The chip features an 8-core CPU, a 16-core Neural Engine, and up to a 10-core GPU. It also supports up to 24GB of unified memory and is said to offer up to 18 hours of battery life.
With the new chipset, the new Airs support hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing for more accurate lighting, reflections, and shadows for even more immersive gaming experiences. It also includes the latest media engine with support for AV1 decode.
The Neural Engine leverages AI to deliver intelligent features that enhance productivity and creativity. Among these include camera features, real-time speech-to-text, translations, text predictions, visual understanding, accessibility features, and more.
The two variants will come with either a 13.6-inch or 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display with up to 500 nits of brightness and support for 1 billion colors. They also support up to two external displays when the lid is closed.
