OPPO has unveiled a prototype for the OPPO Air Glass 3, its next-generation assisted reality (AR) glasses at the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024). The new glasses have access to OPPO’s AndesGPT model via a smartphone for a smooth AI experience.
OPPO Air Glass 3
The Air Glass 3 prototype explores the possibilities of AI technology based on cross-device collaboration between XR devices and smartphones. It is a successor to the Air Glass 2 introduced in INNO Day 2022.
It features a self-developed resin waveguide, a display brightness uniformity of more than 50%, and a peak eye brightness of more than 1,000 nits. These ensure that the new AR glasses provide a wearing experience that is close to a regular pair of glasses and provide the best full-color display of its kind.
With access to OPPO AndesGPT via the Air Glass App on a smartphone, you can lightly press the temple of the Air Glass 3 to activate the AI voice assistant and begin interacting with it.
The AR glasses support touch interaction to control functions like music playback, voice calls, information display, color image browsing, and more.
Moreover, it features reverse sound field technology which features an open acoustic design via four microphones. The glasses also have other innovations that improve noise isolation for high audio quality and enhanced privacy protection.
It is uncertain if the Air Glass 3 will make it to the consumer market especially since the device featured at MWC 2024 was just a prototype. We’ll have to wait and see if the company will make it available at a later date.
