Samsung has officially unveiled its latest mid-range 5G smartphones, the Galaxy A35 5G and Galaxy A55 5G, in the Philippine market today. These new devices bring 5G connectivity, high refresh rate displays, capable cameras, and robust performance to more accessible price points.
Galaxy A35 5G
Galaxy A35 5G is the more affordable of the two new models. It features a large 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and durable Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Under the hood is Samsung’s capable Exynos 1380 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
In the camera department, the A35 5G has a versatile triple-camera setup on the rear. This includes a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP macro shooter. Selfies are handled by a 13MP front-facing camera housed in the punch-hole display cutout.
Galaxy A35 5G runs on Samsung’s OneUI 6.1 software based on Android 14 out of the box. It packs a large 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. Other features include IP67 dust/water resistance, Knox security protection, and a commitment to 4 years of OS upgrades plus 5 years of security patches.
Galaxy A55 5G
Galaxy A55 5G shares some specifications with the A35 5G but packs a few extra premium features. It has the same 6.6-inch FHD+ 120Hz Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with Gorilla Glass Victus but packs Samsung’s newer 4nm Exynos 1480 chipset.
The A55 5G has a slightly more capable camera array, with a higher resolution 12MP ultra-wide lens joining the 50MP main and 5MP macro cameras. For selfies, it has a higher quality 32MP front shooter. It matches the A35 5G’s 8GB/256GB memory configuration and also houses a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging.
One of the key differences between the two phones is their build materials. While the A35 5G has a plastic back and frame, the A55 5G gets a more premium metal frame to go along with its glass back panel. Both devices feature IP67 water resistance and Samsung’s defense-grade Knox security. Both will also receive 4 Major OS Upgrades and 5-year Security Upgrades.
Geared Towards Content Creation
On the software side, both devices are geared towards content creation with a built-in video editor, Object Eraser, Shadow and Reflection Eraser, and Remaster Tools for enhancing photos. You also get features like Single Take, which generates up to 14 kinds of social media ready photos and videos from a single 3 to 10 second capture, and Dual Recording which lets you record video with the front and rear camera at the same time.
