Why is this a big deal for Huawei?

As we all know Huawei has been hit hard by US Sanctions. This forced the company to postpone some of its premium devices as it became hard for the manufacturer to obtain foreign-made chips.

For a quick refresher, Huawei’s return to the premium consumer market after US sanctions was boosted by receiving Intel’s license to help the company continue selling premium laptops.

Reports from earlier this year however say that AMD, Intel’s largest competitor, is influencing President Biden to revoke Huawei’s Intel license. Luckily the deal survived this move.

Huawei Marching Forward?

To help progress its march, Huawei is focusing on AI chip development and the EV sector in China, following rival Xiaomi. Chinese customers are turning to Huawei processors amid US restrictions. Huawei also provides hardware and software to Chinese automakers.

Will this be enough? For now, we can only wait for future announcements and plans by the company to strengthen its foothold in the global market amidst its many challenges.
