- A bit pricey for what it offers
In today’s fast-paced world, where moments are fleeting and memories are precious, having a reliable and capable camera on your smartphone is paramount. The realme 12 5G promises to elevate your photography and videography experience, allowing you to capture life’s sights and sounds with stunning clarity and precision.
Capable Cameras
The realme 12 5G’s camera system has a 108MP main shooter with 3x Zoom Portrait capabilities. Powered by the high-performance HM6 Sensor, this camera setup ensures that every shot you take is rich in detail and vibrant in color, even in low-light conditions.
Whether you’re capturing sweeping landscapes or intimate portraits, the realme 12 5G delivers good results that truly bring your memories to life.
On the other hand, the lack of an ultra-wide forces you to physically move back to add more to the frame, which can be a hassle in certain situations. Low light photos from the front camera also need work.
Video Capabilities
In addition to its impressive still photography prowess, the realme 12 5G also excels in videography. It only supports up to 1080p/30fps video recording, which, to be honest, is still enough if you’re doing short form content like reels.
Capture smooth, high-definition footage that perfectly captures life’s most precious moment, whether you’re recording a family gathering, a breathtaking landscape, or a spontaneous adventure. More hardcore content creators who want a higher resolution for their vlogs, however, may need to look elsewhere.
Design
While the camera is undoubtedly the star of the show, the realme 12 5G also impresses with its sleek and stylish design.
Available in two eye-catching colors, Twilight Purple and Woodland Green, this device boasts a glossy, iridescent finish that exudes sophistication and modernity.
The slim and sleek body, complemented by elements like the Polished Sunburst Dial, Polished PVD Edges, and the diamond-patterned 3D Jubilee Bracelet, creates an overall premium and stylish look that is sure to turn heads.
The device also boasts an IP54 rating for splash resistance, adding that bit of peace of mind when taking the device on your adventures.
Display and Audio
For that binge-watching session, the realme 12 5G’s 6.72-inch Full HD+ LTPS LCD is certainly up to the task, delivering good levels of detail and rich colors. Its 950 nits of peak brightness also allows you to see what’s on screen clearly even when under direct sunlight, and the 6-level dynamic refresh rate means it can decrease or increase the refresh rate to match the activity on screen, allowing for better efficiency.
For audio, you get a dual speaker setup that delivers decent bass, clear vocals, and treble that has good emphasis, but not harsh. Volume-wise, it’s enough for a car or a small room. And for those who still use wired headphones, the realme 12 5G has a handy 3.5mm headphone jack.
Performance
Under the hood, the realme 12 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ processor, ensuring a seamless and responsive user experience. Whether you’re multitasking, or taking a break from sightseeing for a bit of gaming, this device delivers reliable performance that keeps up with your demanding lifestyle.
You also get 8GB of RAM for a bit of multitasking, and 256GB of storage, which is pretty standard. For those with a really big collection of music, videos, or documents, there is a microSD card slot for added storage.
For those moments when you need to take a break and play a game, this will handle Mobile Legends at Super + Ultra, and Honkai: Star Rail at its lowest setting at 30 or 60 fps.
Battery Life and Charging
One of the most crucial aspects of any smartphone, especially when you take it on those weekend summer trips to the city or outside, is its battery life, and the realme 12 5G does not disappoint. With a massive 5000mAh battery, this device ensures that you can capture life’s moments without worrying about running out of juice. And when it’s time to recharge, the 45W SUPERVOOC Charge technology provides lightning-fast charging, ensuring that you’re always ready for your next adventure.
realme 12 5G: Verdict
The realme 12 5G is a decent all-around smartphone. It offers good performance for the price, good battery life, and its cameras empower its users to capture life’s sights and sounds with good clarity and artistry. For budding content creators or for those who simply appreciates the joy of capturing beautiful moments, the realme 12 5G is a worthy companion that will elevate visual storytelling.
On the flip side, there’s a ton of pre-loaded apps that you may or may not need, there’s no ultra-wide camera, and videos only max out at 1080 30fps. The price – PHP 14,999, in my opinion, is just a tiny bit too much for what it offers.
