ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has just concluded a livestream wherein it revealed its next gaming handheld dubbed the ROG Ally which will be officially announced this coming June 2, 2024. The company revealed the name and some of its highlights but didn’t reveal its design.

ROG Ally X

The ROG Ally X will still feature the same Z1 Extreme processor and the same 7-inch 48–120Hz VRR screen as its predecessor. So we can’t really call it a totally new machine but rather a hefty refresh.

However, the X model will come with a bigger battery, bigger storage (should have a longer M.2 slot for ease of purchasing SSDs), enhancements to its I/O options, and more.

Improvements in the UI will also be apparent and will surely improve user experience by providing a much clearer view of the UI elements.

No other information was given regarding hardware. Regarding the Ally 2 discussions, ASUS shares Valve’s philosophy of creating a true successor with a significant performance boost, rather than incremental improvements.
