Valve is diving into the development of an in-game screen recording feature, according to SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik. This will simplify sharing in-game clips and replace the need for external tools like Microsoft’s Game Bar.
Valve’s Own In-game Capturing Feature
The upcoming feature aims to provide the same convenience as Steam’s screenshot-sharing feature, allowing users to snap and share screenshots directly to their Steam community or social media.
Each Steam account includes 1GB of cloud storage for screenshots, game settings, and archives.
The new screen recording function promises to surpass basic recording. Here’s a glimpse of what we can expect based on current information:
- Background Recording: This feature allows continuous gameplay capture without the need to manually trigger recording each time.
- Timeline Marking Function (in select games): This feature introduces a visual timeline within the recording interface, making it easier for players to pinpoint and share specific highlights.
The timeline marking function is reminiscent of features on PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles, which automatically record clips upon achievement unlocks.
While Valve remains tight-lipped about the official release date and additional functionalities, this news is thrilling for Steam users. The prospect of an integrated recording feature hints at a future where sharing gameplay moments is as seamless as snapping a screenshot.
