According to GSM Arena, California-based tech giant Apple has made a strategic decision to postpone the Apple Vision Pro 2’s production in favor of developing a more cost-effective device that will appear in late 2025.
Apple Vision Pro 2 Production Halted
Apple has reduced its workforce for the Vision Pro 2 project and suspended further development, aiming to capture a broader market segment with an affordable AR headset. While specific pricing details remain speculative, reports suggest Apple is aiming for around USD 1,500 for the budget-friendly headset.
Apple’s Vision headset, priced lower than the Pro model, is expected to have a simplified headband, smaller speakers, and fewer cameras, but will still inherit advanced display technology from the Pro model.
Apple is allegedly wary of compromising too much on functionality, which could limit its appeal in a competitive market. Although the development of the Vision Pro 2 has been suspended for the time being, the report stated that work on the project may resume in the future.
In the meantime, the Cupertino-based company is focusing on improving and prepping the more accessible Vision model.
