GCash, the leading mobile wallet in the Philippines, announced several new features and services at its annual FutureCast event in 2024. These innovations aim to enhance user experience, security, and financial accessibility.

Enhanced Security Measures

GCash introduced Online PaySafe, a safety feature that allows users to complete transactions within the app securely using multi-factor authentication. The Send Money Protection offers coverage of up to PHP 15,000 for 30 days for as low as PHP 30.

Gigi, an AI-powered assistant helps users with various tasks, including securing accounts in case of phone theft, conducting security checks, accessing past conversations, and connecting users to live agents.

Improved User Interface

A redesigned dashboard features new tabs for easier navigation. The app now includes new virtual assistants: GCat for general use, Corey G for the hottest deals, and Graf for investment guidance. A money manager tool helps users track their spending habits.

Personalized Services

GScore, calculated based on spending, saving, and money management habits, provides access to priority services and special perks. Users will receive personalized ads based on their usage patterns. GCoach AI offers tailored financial advice.

Environmental Initiatives

The app now tracks how digital transactions reduce users’ carbon footprints. Users can plant trees through the app, with 2.8 million trees (11.6k hectares) planted so far. GImpact encourages users to create a greener future with every transaction.

GFarm is an initiative that helps Filipino farmers by supplying them with fruit tree seedlings, allowing for a more sustainable livelihood.

GCash for Minors

With GCash Jr., parents can create accounts for their children ages 7 to 17 with set limits and a dashboard that allows them to monitor overall spending. Children can receive their allowances, purchase load, and make online payments or via QR. They can even have their own GCash Jr. Visa Card. Parents can set up accounts using their child’s valid ID, including school IDs.

GSave Jr. is ideal for your children’s first savings account. It allows them to learn to manage their money, set their own goals, and control how much they want to save.

Services for OFWs and Travelers

In 2024, GCash is set to expand its reach to 16 countries including USA, Canada, Italy, UK, Australia, Japan, Spain, UAE, South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, Hong Kong, Qatar, Singapore, KSA, and Kuwait.

With International Bank Cash-In, users can cash-in to GCash over 12,000 US Banks for a flat fee of 1 USD per transaction, with Europe to follow soon. GTravel offers travel insurance with coverage up to PHP 2.5 million.

Users travelling to Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and more can claim travel tax refunds via GCash, while GTravel lets you book flights and hotels within the app. With GCash Tourist, Tourists can access GCash features for 30 days, giving them all the convenience of being able to pay digitally.

Tap to Pay, Watch Pay

With Borrow on the Spot, eligible users can potentially increase their GGives credit limit with just a tap of a button. Powered by Fuse, GCash’s lending division, this tool makes it easier to secure the funds they need.

Commuters will soon be able to use Tap to Pay via NFC on specialized terminals for public transportation with no need to submit requirements or application forms, and no fees. GCash has partnered with Huawei for Watch Pay, enabling payments via their Huawei Smartwatch.
