HONOR presented two new AI features at this year’s Mobile World Congress Shanghai. These features are AI Defocus Eye Protection and AI Deepfake Detection.
AI Defocus Eye Protection
This feature aims to help with eye health. It uses AI to create an effect on device screens similar to defocus glasses. This may help reduce temporary nearsightedness caused by long-term screen use. Tests showed that after 25 minutes of reading, users’ temporary nearsightedness decreased by an average of 13 degrees.
AI Deepfake Detection
This feature helps identify fake videos or images created by AI. It examines details like eye contact, lighting, and image quality to find issues that people might not notice. The system can detect altered content within three seconds and warn users about potential scams.
HONOR stated that these features use on-device AI. This means the AI works directly on the user’s device, which can help protect user privacy.
