Valve’s latest beta update rollout will allow users of the Steam Deck to record gameplay and edit it for sharing.
Steam Deck Game Capture
The handheld now features a native game recorder function, allowing users to set duration and storage limits, start and stop recording manually, and review missed moments.
The feature also includes editing and sharing features, allowing users to trim footage to the most important parts and send the clip to friends or themselves on PC or mobile.
Valve allows devs to customize clips, notify Steam of important events, and change the timeline’s appearance to show if users were in the menu, lobby, or gameplay. Users can jump through events within highlighted recordings. The recording feature works with the GPU’s built-in video encoder, ensuring no performance reduction while playing.
For Steam Deck and desktop users running the Steam client, you can access this feature by going to your Steam settings and enabling the Beta Update in the Beta Participation option.
