Huawei‘s Foldable Phone patents, filed with China’s CNIPA, provide a glimpse into future Huawei flip phones, following the launch of the Pocket 2.
Huawei patents for an upcoming flip phone
The company’s patents reveal five potential variations for their future clamshell foldable design, focusing on camera placement. The patents, discovered by 91mobiles, show the brand’s current Pocket 2 design, which features a vertically stacked design.
One of the patents suggests two circular rings on the phone’s exterior, similar to the Huawei Pocket 2. Another patent has a strip around the rear side. A third design features a clamshell phone with diagonal cutouts, with the larger ring housing the cover display.
The Chinese manufacturer seems to be experimenting with square camera modules, with two horizontally arranged square frames on the rear of a flip phone and diagonally arranged square frames in larger and smaller layouts, similar to the circular design.
The company is considering a shift from the dual-ring design of the Pocket 2, offering an intriguing glimpse into the company’s foldable phone development.
