Samsung recently announced its latest ISOCELL camera sensors for smartphones namely the telephoto 200MP ISOCELL HP9 and the mid-range sensors 50MP ISOCELL GNJ and 50MP ISOCELL JN5.

200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP9
The ISOCELL HP9 is a 1/1.4-inch telephoto snapper with Samsung’s own high-refractive microlens. This is said to offer up to 12% improved light sensitivity and 10% better autofocus than its predecessor.
It also uses Tetrapixel technology that bins 200MP photos into 12MP snaps with a pixel size of 2.24μm. Moreover, the sensor is said to offer a 12x “optical” zoom by pairing the 3x telephoto with the 4x in-sensor crop.
It is capable of shooting 8K video at 30fps, 4K video at 120fps, or FHD video at 480fps.
The ISOCELL HP9 is already being used in the vivo X100 Ultra and the HONOR Magic6 Pro. The latter uses a cropped 180MP variant while the former uses the entire sensor.
50MP Samsung ISOCELL GNJ
The 50MP ISOCELL GNJ, on the other hand, is a 1/1.57-inch sensor intended to be a main camera for mid-range smartphones.
It features a dual-pixel technology that uses two photodiodes per pixel to deliver quick and accurate autofocus. The GNJ also has a high-transmittance anti-refractive layer and the aforementioned high-refractive microlens.
Moreover, it uses less than 29% in preview mode and 34% less in 4K 60fps video mode for longer device battery life.
50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5
Lastly, the ISOCELL JN5 is an upgraded version of the JN1. The JN5 is still a 1/2.76-inch sensor and can be used as a main, ultrawide, telephoto, or front camera. In the case of the realme GT 6, it is used as a telephoto lens.
The sensor is designed to capture high-quality images in different lighting conditions, making it quite flexible and cost-effective.
