Prior leaks about the PlayStation 5 Pro have been circling even though Sony has no official announcement regarding the release of a Pro version of their current-gen console.

Now, Eurogamer has obtained documents from Sony’s developer portal, revealing the PlayStation 5 Pro’s architecture enhancements, including increased horsepower and enhanced functionality for enhanced performance and image quality.

PlayStation 5 Pro Leaked Details

The PlayStation 5 Pro, featuring 60 computing units, has a slightly lower GPU clock speed of 2.18 GHz, slightly boosting performance to 2.35 GHz in limited scenarios, and may have 256 KB of L1 cache.

In addition, the Pro model is said to dish out 33.5 TFLOPs, but practical rasterization performance only increases by about 45 percent. The L0 cache doubles from 16 KB to 32 KB, potentially boosting ray-tracing performance.

The rumored upcoming console may have full hardware support for VRS and mesh shaders, which have been limited in games due to PS5’s lack of full support.

To clarify, mesh shaders enhance geometric detail in games like Alan Wake 2 and save performance by reducing screen resolution. However, developers’ use of these features for the Pro variant remains uncertain due to limited console sales.

Sony is reportedly launching the PlayStation 5 Pro later this year, with features likely to combine with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, Sony’s solution to Nvidia DLSS. This technology aims to upscale games from lower resolutions using machine learning to increase framerates.

However, there is still no official announcement regarding the Pro model and the pricing and disc drive details are still unclear.
