Qualcomm has just introduced the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, the latest member of its mid-range chipset. The chipset is built for advanced generative AI, mobile gaming, cameras, and video.

The latest generation of the Snapdragon 7s is built on the TSMC 4nm process and said to offer a 20% better CPU performance and 40% improved GPU performance than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.

Its core configuration is as follows:

  • 1 Prime Core (Cortex-A720) at up to 2.5GHz
  • 3 Performance Cores (Cortex-A720) at up to 2.4GHz
  • 4 Efficiency Cores (Cortex-A520) at up to 1.8GHz  

The chipset supports LPRR5 memory running at up to 3200MHz or LPDDR4X memory at up to 2133MHz at up to 16GB. For storage, it handles up to UFS 3.1.

The Gen 3 chipset includes Baichuan-7B, Llama at 1B parameters, and more Generative AI and Multi-language translation and transcription.

It also has an NPU that is said to help with power efficiency and offer a 2x performance increase from the Micro NPU.

The chipset supports enhanced AI features and up to a 200MP camera thanks to its Qualcomm Spectra Triple ISP. Meanwhile, the Adreno 810 GPU allows the chipset to support up to FHD+ displays at 144Hz refresh rate.

It has Snapdragon Elite Gaming features that improve gaming like Adaptive Performance Engine (APE 3.0) and Variable Rate Shading.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 boasts Snapdragon Sound technology for crystal-clear lag-free audio as well as support for spatial audio and smart head tracking.

The new SoC is equipped with the Snapdragon 5G Modem RF System that supports 5G mmWave and sub-6GHz SA and NSA modes. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and Bluetooth 5.4 LE Audio.

Qualcomm confirmed that the first device powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will be released by Xiaomi and is expected to debut next month. realme and Sharp are also said to be working on a device powered by the Gen 3 chipset.
