Grab has just introduced its latest safety features and measures for its passengers among these include an audio recording feature and driver selfie verification.
Grab – Audio Recording and New Safety Features
The ride-hailing company adds new safety measures amidst its 99.99% safety record. This includes Audio Protect and Driver Selfie Verification.
The former is an opt-in feature that records audio during rides and is stored in the Grab database. The audio stored will only be used in disputes. The feature uses artificial intelligence to send signals to the passenger to detect potential risks in real time.
Meanwhile, Driver Selfie Verification, as the name suggests, now requires drivers to take random selfies throughout the day to confirm their identity. This is in addition to the existing pre-trip selfie check to ensure that registered drivers are operating.
These now join safety features that are currently implemented like the Emergency SOS button, Share Your Ride, and Report an Issue.
“Safety is at the heart of everything we do,” says EJ Dela Vega, Grab Philippines Head of Mobility. “Our approach goes beyond the platform – we take an active approach in ensuring everyone has a safe ride. We have ongoing dialogues with our passengers, driver-partners and government stakeholders, taking an active role in ensuring safe rides across the industry. Everyone plays a part in maintaining safety, and by working together, we can create a safer journey for all,” adds Dela Vega

That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
