According to the latest data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), Huawei has secured the top spot in the global wearable tech market in the second quarter of 2024. This is based on the Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker of the IDC.
The global wrist-worn device market 43.7 million units in the second quarter of the year, seeing a decrease Year-over-Year (YoY) of 0.7%. Despite this, the report revealed that Huawei posted significant gains.
Huawei – IDC Q2 2024 Wearable Market
The performance of Huawei in the wearable space is highlighted by its substantial shipments and market share. It posted 8.9 million units in shipments and a 20.3% market share in Q2 of 2024, compared to 6.3 million unit shipments and a 14.2% market share in the same period of the previous year.
The company recorded a 42.1% YoY growth rate, besting its competitors.
The boost in performance is attributed to the launch of Huawei’s line of wearable devices in the first half of 2023, garnering a 55.1% YoY increase in shipments. This led to the tech brand leading the global wrist-worn market for two consecutive quarters.
Moreover, it achieved significant growth in regions like the Middle East and Africa, Latin America, and Central and Eastern Europe.
The latter part of 2023 and the first half of 2024, Huawei released a series of new wearable devices like the Watch Fit 3 and the Watch GT 4 series.
The Watch Fit 3 has a sleek 1.82-inch AMOLED square face that makes navigation effortless. It also comes packed with enhanced health and fitness monitoring features and a battery life that is said to last up to 10 days on a single charge.
Meanwhile, the Watch GT 4 series sets new standards for fashion-forward with a classic elegant look that comes in 41mm and 46mm sizes. It is designed after the Grand Tourer and has an engraved bezel. Underneath lies powerful health-tracking technology.
Gearing Up for September Launch
Huawei’s momentum shows no signs of slowing as it prepares to launch its latest wearable devices on September 19. It is expected that the HUAWEI Watch GT 5 series will be among those to debut and be believed to feature the newly introduced HUAWEI TruSense System.
