Rumors suggest the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor is set to offer a significant boost in performance, thanks to its high-clocked performance cores. This report came from a tipster on Weibo.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 – Performance Cores with 5GHz Clock Speed?
According to recent leaks, the chip’s performance cores will operate at a staggering 5.0 GHz, a fairly substantial increase from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s estimated 4.32 GHz.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is expected to feature a core configuration of 2 performance and 6 efficiency cores. While the performance cores will be clocked at 5.0 GHz, the efficiency cores are also rumored to see a boost, operating at 4.0 GHz compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s expected 3.53 GHz.
However, according to earlier reports, the clock speed mentioned may only be accessible in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 variant built on TSMC’s N3P manufacturing node. The other version of the chip, likely designed for Samsung’s Galaxy handsets, could be produced using Samsung’s SF2 node, but its clock rates still need to be determined.
If these leaks are accurate, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 promises to deliver exceptional performance, making it a highly anticipated chip for flagship smartphones.
